Dear Parent/Guardian

It has been brought to our attention that an individual at St. Matthew’s ELC  in the Two's 1 classroom, has tested positive for Covid-19. Privacy concerns prohibit us from providing additional information about specific cases. However, because we believe that your child may have had close contact with the individual who tested positive, and in order to limit the risk of spreading it further, we ask that you follow the instructions set forth below:

  • Your child must quarantine for 14 days from the date of possible exposure.  (9/25/2020)

  • Return date is set for OCTOBER 12, 2020.

  • We strongly urge you to have your child tested for Covid-19, even if he or she does not have symptoms.

  • Monitor for symptoms and take your child’s temperature twice a day for a minimum of 14 days from the date above.

  • Consult a physician if your child experience symptoms, which usually develop between 2 to 14 days after exposure:

  • Fever of 100.4 F or greater

  • Persistent cough

  • Shortness of breath

  • New loss of taste or smell

  • Persistent vomiting or diarrhea

  • Your child may return to school following the 14-day quarantine and school exclusion period if no symptoms develop.

  • Your child is not required to have medical clearance from a physician to return to school from a 14-day quarantine

  • Contact the school before he or she returns after quarantine.

Please note, however, that if your child develops symptoms, or tests positive for Covid-19, he or she must remain in isolation for 10 days from the onset of symptoms or from the test collection date, if asymptomatic AND will be required to provide medical clearance to return to school. Please contact the school if your child tests positive, or experiences symptoms of Covid-19 during the quarantine period.
