This is an archive for documents handed out to the entire school for the current month only. We will not post class specific handouts.
This is an archive for documents in relevance to our policies and procedures here at St. Matthews ELC. Many of this information may be resourcefull to all parents.
I hope that this letter finds you all well and in good spirits. I would like to first thank all of our ELC parents who are part of the essential working sector . We appreciate your tireless efforts to serve and heal the community in these uncertain times. Our prayer is that the Lord protects you and your families from sickness and weariness as you are being used as his servants.
As leaders in the community we have made the decision to close the daycare even though we understand we are not mandated to do so. We did not come to this decision lightly, but we strongly feel that it is a public health risk to operate during this pandemic. The reality of the situation is that social distancing in a daycare setting is impossible. It is evident that a group setting causes higher risk of transmission of all illnesses including COVID-19. We will continue to monitor the crisis closely through the CDC and make decisions based on what is best for the community as a whole. As of right now we are still following the original order to remain closed until April 14th , with the the understanding that this timeline is fluid. We will keep you updated through the website and Facebook of any changes. We will use the time of closure to clean and sanitize in preparation of reopening.
We would like to thank you for your monthly payments of $900 in March. This allowed us to pay your Teachers through April 14th. St. Matthews ELC is totally dependent on our tuition for payroll and operational cost. As a 5013c (non-profit organization) our reserve fund is very limited. Although the ELC is part of the ministry of the Church each operate independently financially. The Church is only able to support its own ministry.
Moving forward no more payments will be required until school resumes. I am working on ways with the help of others on how to best take care of our beloved staff during this time.
I will end with this, Jesus can calm any storm with a word: “Quiet , be still!” When the disciples first witnessed Jesus power to bring peace , they were amazed. “ Who is this ? Even the wind and the waves obey him?” We will be amazed too. The gift of peace can come quietly and unexpectedly. Sit outside and look at his creations and find the peace that he provides. As you care and protect your children , remember that we all are children of God. His love will endure forever.
